Welcome!!

As many of you know this past summer I spent 8 weeks in Malawi, Africa serving as an intern with an organization called Children of the Nations. As you read further you will see ways that my heart has forever been changed because of this experience. It is a journey of losing myself and finding Christ in the eyes of the poor and orphaned. I have come to realize that this was not just a 2 month vacation, but that I am now responsible for what I have seen. I am now in the process of taking what I know and applying it to my world here. Please join me in this as I become more aware of the hurts in Africa and search for other ways to serve at home. I pray that this website will not only be informative, but also encouraging. So I'm not abbducted....

Sorry about the last post I made... my first experience in an African internet cafe! Haha! Just a heads up... all my internet connections are slow and unpredictable so I will do my best :) Right now I just have few minutes in the office at our compound.... I loaded the page before lunch and it was up and ready after we ate... haha gotta love the slow-paced culture! I will be able to do a full post later this week or during the weekend when we go into town again, but I just wanted to let you know I'm alive since my last post ended mid-thought mid-sentence...
I love you all!! Thanks for my few comments Mom, J, Auntie Bobbi!! The rest of you should hop on that train :)

Well this is good to hear lol. I knew you weren't abducted silly girl. I can imagine how slow the connections are there for internet. I am so glad you are having a blast! I made dinner for mom and dad last night: pork chops, mushroom sauce over rice with broccoli. You probably don't have broccoli huh? I was thinking last night what you might want as your first meal back in the states...haha. I am not sure what you will say...maybe a burger, turkey sandwich....hmmm we will see! Love you!!!!

Karinnnnnnn!!! How exciting that you are in Africa!!!! Is it amazing?? Do you have to poop in a hole in the ground? Do you have to wipe with banana leaves?? Haha, just kidding......... but seriously. :) I'm at my sister's with my mom and little Joey, and we're all praying for you... Joey is too even though she can't talk. :) Anyway boobie, I'm so excited for you and for the amazing things that God is doing in Malawi and will keep praying for you! I love you!!!

P.S. Remember that awesome song we made up to "Don't Stop Believing" in Cambria? I was totally laughing to myself today singing it in my head.... "Cookies... candyyy.... it's all packed down in my r...." HAHA :)

I am finally able to get into how to post a message, but I have been reading everything you've written! You are an amazing writer - thank you for inviting us into your thoughts and heart as you are experiencing everything there. So many things you say touch Uncle Ray and me but one thing, especially - that God is already at work and you just need to be there for Him to use in a simple way but so profound, too - to just BE with each person He sends our way. You are so loving and full of light - I am sure you are a gift to anyone who meets you!
